Australian NASCAR fans in the mid to late 1990’s saw the #27 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Kim Jane dominate the category by winning several championships in a row.
But did you know that the #27 is still running and in competition?
The car that graced the Thunderdome and other courses since the 1995/96 season to the end of the Power Tour era continues clock up mileage to this day.
The car was purchased by Zac O’Hara, Zac not only drives the car in Stock Cars Australia but he also runs the series after taking over from Brian Walden.
Gone is the yellow paint scheme with the blue Bob Jane T-Marts sponsorship but the car looks really good with its black paint scheme with the sponsorship of Awesome Automotive and associated sponsors.
The #27 had a good run in Round 1 down at Wakefield Park and on April 13 Zac and the #27 will be at Sydney Motorsport Park for the second round of Stock Cars Australia before heading to Winton and being there on July 6 & 7 for Round 3.
There are drivable NASCAR’s scattered across Australia and if owners want to race at a safe yet fun pace, they’ve got until April 7 to put in an entry and when filling out the entry make sure you put it under Super TT.
AUSCAR’s are also welcome with Stock Cars Australia waiting for somebody to be the first to enter.
